Colfax-Davis-Nut Tree 3/28/10
On 3/27/10 we arrived at Sierra Sun Cloud Inn in Colfax, CA for an overnight stay. This spacious, hill-top, bed-and-breakfast inn was a delightful place to stay and meet fellow residents. Breakfast in the morning was excellent.
Later that day we went to Loomis to visit the High Hand Nursery, a combination nursery, restaurant, and art gallery. This huge place had lots to look at, including a number of displays suggesting arrangements and presentations of the plants.
We visited our son Cory's horseback riding lesson in Davis, CA to see how he's doing in directing these fine animals. We also visited the horse of a friend to provide an apple treat.
Finally, we stopped at The Nut Tree, a rejuvenated location along I80, to try out the new second location of Fenton's Creamery. The ice cream cones were great, and it might be a viable alternative to the familiar location in Oakland, CA. The Nut Tree is again becoming a destination, with new buildings and stores as well as a kids' area including a train ride (much shorter than the original loop out to the airport and back).
