Dartmouth 5 and DAASV in SF 11/23/10
On 11/23/10 several DAASV members and their guests enjoyed dinner, wine, and listened to "Dartmouth Five" Dixieland Band at Heirloom Cafe in San Francisco.
In the late '60s, the College had a Dixieland Jazz band called "Dartmouth Five". These talented young men also recorded a successful album - Dartmouth Five: On The Road. Many of its members went on to more steady professions, like medicine and dentistry, and several became professional musicians. Scott Anthony '70 became one of the best jazz banjo players in the country and has led a Dixieland band, called the Golden Gate Rhythm Machine, in the Bay Area for years. Stephen Straus '70 became a dentist in Massachusetts, returning to music on occasion.
